College footballs biggest teams continued their 2020 campaign in Saturdays Week 10 action. The 2022 college football season is in full swing, with over 100 teams competing over the course of 13 weeks to earn a berth in the four-seed College Football Playoff bracket.    

No week in college football at this point of the season would provide more guaranteed changes in the Top 25 than Week 7. Below, we will take a look at Week 4s games to rank them similarly to how the College Football Playoff Committee views them. Each College Football Playoff scoring contest plays an important role in each weeks Top 25 College Football rankings and the race for the Heisman Trophy.

The Football Poll is released on Sundays at 2 pm Eastern Time throughout the season, except when the teams being ranked are yet to complete a game. Week 10 brings a loaded slate, including 19 games featuring ranked teams, including four contests pitting teams against one another. Six games are played between ranked opponents, including five with at least one team that is undefeated.   

Seven games featuring teams ranked within the Top 25 will be televised nationally during Week 7, including four games among the ranked teams (two of which are among the undefeated teams). There are bigger implications, too, in a few cases, with the College Football Playoff picture still precarious, with a little more than one week remaining before four teams are revealed at home. Michigan holds off undefeated Ohio State Saturday to highlight the weekends reshaped results of a rivalry that also included a surprising upset by South Carolina over Clemson.    

Ohio State improved its bowl chances with five fourth-down stops against Illinois, snapping a three-game losing streak. The loss ended a Clemson streak of 14 straight wins, which was the longest active streak among FBS teams. The league title was in play, but Miamis victory also came against a probable bowl team.   

Defenses can get points in overtime of college football with pick-sixes or recovering a fumble for touchdowns. If a game is tied after the first overtime, the two teams may each have possession of the ball again. If both teams convert touchdowns and two-point conversions, the opposing offense must equal an eight-point scoring drive in order to keep the game going.  

It is better to defeat a team in Week 4 who finished above.500 than a team who did not, regardless of where both teams were at the time of the kickoff.    

The Associated Press began calculating its rankings of the Top 20 teams in college mens basketball in 1948-1949. News organizations began conducting their own surveys of sports writers in order to determine, based on the consensus, the best college football teams in the country. Minnesota fans protested, and several Gould colleagues, led by CharlesCy Sherman, suggested that he should establish a survey of sports editors rather than just using his list, and it has been conducted consistently since 1936
