Manchester United are among a number of clubs that have made contact with Brentford goalkeeper David Raya.
The Peoples Person reported a few days ago that Raya is on United’s radar.
The Red Devils are in the race for the 27-year-old alongside Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea with both London clubs also in the market for a goalkeeper.
Raya has more than made it clear he wants a fresh challenge and will not extend his deal at the Brentford Community Stadium.
His current terms expire at the end of next season and he will soon become a free agent, thus the Bees may be forced to sell this summer to avoid losing him for free.
Pressure is piling on David de Gea. The United shot-stopper produced another below-par performance against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
De Gea’s distribution, play with his feet and dominance inside his box were all aspects of the game that were questioned as United suffered a 3-2 defeat.
Relevo reports that the Red Devils have made contact with Raya’s representatives to explore the possibility of a summer transfer.
“David Raya is assessing the options he will have next summer.
“Up to three top-6 teams have already contacted him: Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea. Spurs are looking for a replacement for veteran Lloris, who ends in 2024, while the Red Devils and Blues are also testing the market.
“At 27 years old, Raya is making two considerations before making the final decision on his future: measuring himself in the Champions League and continuing in the National Team squad with Luis De la Fuente after having been a regular with Luis Enrique.”
Raya was part of the Spanish contingent that went to Qatar while De Gea did not make the squad.
The Brentford man is technically gifted and is an excellent sweeper-keeper. His contributions to Brentford this season have been valuable, with Thomas Frank’s side enjoying a fruitful campaign.
